We have tried to emphasize on multiple occasions not to leave your unit door open when you are cooking or even otherwise. Open your unit doors only to get in or out of your unit. Almost every month the Fire Trucks have to be summoned because of a fire alarm which is triggered when someone opens the door of their unit to let the cooking smoke escape. Please refrain from doing that as the smoke escaping into the corridor triggers the fire alarm for the whole building. If you have burned something while cooking, please open your windows and not the main door. Always use the exhaust fan on top of your cook top and/ or bathroom and laundry room. We hope you will understand the severity of the situation as these calls pull the fire department away from more important things that might need their attention. If it’s not an emergency, the fire department can send us an invoice which can be close to $1000.00 (approx $500.00 per truck) based on the number of fire trucks dispatched which will eventually be given to the unit responsible for causing the fire alarm as a charge back.
Please contact the Management Office, should you have any questions. Thank you for your anticipated co-operation in this matter.
Sincerely,
